Bob's Quick Buck Saw--Reviewed by Four Dog Stove Co. (01:29)
Don at Four Dog Stove (http://www.FourDog.com) reviews key features that make Bob Dustrude's 21", 24" & 30" folding bow saws his #1 pick. This is the only bow saw you'll lilkely ever need, because it is built to last for decades, and you can replace the high quality blades, as needed.Made from an extruded aluminum frame, with channel lock construction, and a leveraged-tension blade design, you'll get the perfect blade tension, every time.I've known Bob for a while now--and he's a colorful fellow, with a great zest for life, and an eye for making quality products. As a WWII fighter pilot, Bob knows the value of a good buck saw, that won't let you down, doesn't weigh much, and packs flat. You can even set this saw up with one hand, in case you need to do that in an emergency, if one of your hands or arms is broken. That's a great feature for a survivalist-type saw.Bob still making his quick buck saws--and he's still going strong, into his mid-90's in age (at the time of writing this). So do yourself a favor, and watch this video on Bob's saws, and check them out on our website. Even if you don't need a saw like this, it's good to know that people are still making good quality products like Bob's Quick Saw, right here in the USA.

  1. Excellent, packable, well handy saw 5 Star Review

Posted by on 15th Apr 2016

Went out to the woods to clear an area of fallen dead wood, storm damage stuff come down, process it and gather into stacks for use as firewood in a camp yet to be built. Went through cherry, ash, hazel without a problem i.e. little effort. A really decent and very packable saw for use on mid size wood rounds, can't complain at all.

  2. Fantastic kit, highly recommended! 5 Star Review

You can do an awful lot with a saw in the bushes; I am(re: was) a fan of some imported folding hand saws due to the compact, but sometimes clunky, design. I ended up here looking for the Bushcooker LT and came across Bob's Quick Buck Saws quite by coincidence. The video(hopefully still linked with this product from YouTube when you read this) convinced me that there may be a different, better way!

This 24" model is right in the same weight ballpark of common outdoor folding hand saws. The long, slender design is surprisingly compact, making it easy to stow inside or outside the pack. I purchased the Cordura Packcloth at the same time and don't regret the purchase. The saw itself is compact when folded up and very safely stores the blade internally but the carrying case makes for real convenience to pack an extra blade(or 2) along with the saw.

Where this saw really shines is three-fold:
    1) Uses standard blades. This is a significant benefit as any hardware store has replacement blades readily available. It also lets the blade match the type of work planned for the saw, making this extremely flexible. For general bushcrafting the included 24" raker blade is a solid choice. Could be used around the home quite easily if a power tool wasn't available.
    2) This thing is bombproof, extremely solid. The frame lets you tackle larger cuts that a folding hand saw wouldn't be nearly as efficient working. You can safely lean into a cut much more than you can with a folding hand saw.
    3) Price. I'm in Canada, the exchange rate right now to the US dollar is terribad. $54 US = some absurd amount of CAN dollars. Even still, that price tag was enticing. I tricked myself into buying this by not factoring the exchange and S&H. Even after both, this saw is a real value when compared to other models on the market. More so after I got to work with it a bit; I've really come to appreciate the simple efficiency and effectiveness of this tool!

I would readily recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a portable saw. This is an excellent bushcraft/camping tool, an easy add to a BOB or any kind of outdoor kit. Aluminum frame won't rust, it's solid, lightweight, and replacement blades are readily available. If you are on the fence about this purchase, trust your gut and buy one of these high-quality saws. Once you have it in your hands I am sure that you will immediately recognize the value in your decision!
