How to Safely Harvest Your Fuel Wood for Wilderness Camping (08:17)
At Four Dog Stove (http://www.FourDog.com) wood harvesting is important, because it fuels your stove, and keeps you warm.I'd like to share some tips on how to use the bowsaw, axe and lopping shears to harvest firewood for your tent stove and campsite--tips I've tried & tested over the years. If you think an axe is the best way to cut word for your camp, then you might be surprised to see how an axe compares to the bow saw. In particular, I show you how I use Bob's Quick Bow Saw--or Buck Saw--to make short work of wood harvesting. You'll see how to use the saw without your hands, for real quick cutting of smaller branches--I think you'll like that tip. You'll also see when to use the lopping shears, and why that is sometimes the fastest, and safest choice for gathering wood in a hurry. The right size wood, and proper dryness makes all the difference in the world, when it comes to heating your wall or canvas tent. You'll see how I pick dry wood, and when I leave dead fall wood alone...tips that can help you in the bush.Hopefully you'll get some ideas from this video that can help you harvest wood faster, and more efficiently in the woods. If you can master this piece, then you'll have a more efficient fire in your tent stove, and have an easier time heating your wall tent, without as much need to gather firewood.See you down the trail!

  1. Wow!

What a fantastic saw. It's beautifully designed and so simple to use; this past weekend I cut down and processed a small tree in no time. Wish I had bought it sooner.

  2. Just Buy the Best, USA Made

I had been looking for a US made Buck Saw for about a year. I just Like the way is assembles, saws, and made by Bob in MN. Very light weight, for kayak camping. Buy an extra blade, cover, you will need them sooner or later.
