If I could, I would have given the stove 4.75 stars. As per it's name, it is a great cooking stove. Stuff the burn chamber up to the, but not covering, the inner top holes and top light it. With soft woods, you'll get about a 20 minute burn, with hard woods, about 30 minutes, and with wood pellets, about 45 minutes. This stove ain't just a water boiler, it's a true cooker. It also kicks butt as an alcohol stove.
It does require fairly small sticks.
But other than up ending it and dumping out the ash, there is no good way to, well empty the ash. That is, if you want to keep the fire going. That's why It doesn't make a good fireplace. At some point, the bottom vents will get clogged with ash and coals, and the bushcooker will stop burning fuel. The last time I went camping, I have another wood stove (not named here) that didn't burn as efficiently as the bushcooker, but was able to clear the ash and keep on burning wood. After dinner, I used it as a fire ring inside of my actual fire ring, for my evening campfire.
Despite this being the largest of the three cookers, it is still quite small.
