Stove Specifications:
5 Reasons to Get a Four Dog Steel Stove:
1. MORE EFFICIENT HEAT: True airtight door with a high temp gasket for a air tight seal makes for a superior stove! You also get a baffled fire box that makes the stove 20-30% more efficient then other stoves, by forcing flames to go around the baffle before exiting the firebox. This means more heat and comfort to you, and it keeps the heat in the fire box--not up the pipe!
All Four Dog stoves allow you to burn less wood, have more heat with less work
(Meaning: you have more time to relax and enjoy yourself on the trial).
2. SAFER: The airtight door allows complete control of your burn. Close the air intake, and the fire is out--no run away fires. Baffle makes the stove safer by forcing flame and sparks to go around the baffle instead of straight up the stove pipe. Reduces chances of hot sparks or embers getting sucked up the pipe causing a fire or burn holes in the tent.
3. GREAT FOR COOKING: The baffle creates a hot spot on top of stove for cooking or boiling water. Without the hot spot made by the baffle, most of the heat would go up the stove pipe, forcing the stove operator to run the stove much hotter--which results in burning more wood, making more work, overheating the tent and increasing cooking times.
4. DURABILITY : The Four Dog Steel Stove shell is 13 gauge steel, with reinforced top and door opening. Door is 10 gauge steel. This stove is meant to take heavy use for years to come, and is built "mule tough" through and through.

Waited to Elk Hunt test stove. Absolutely an air tight unit. Close draft and damper and fire goes out. Took some time to get used to regulating but will hold hot coals for 4-5 hours. Only limit is how long wood burns and gives out heat. Was able to perk coffee on stovetop, hot spot is near chimney outlet. Spark arrestor got clogged because you can hold minimal fire in firebox. Four Dog was going to be gone when I made trip to MN from CO and they offered to ship stove no charge to CO.
Best stove I ever used in outfitter's tent. Just remember to cut your firewood a little short so it fits due to chimney baffle plate. You can really stack the firebox full and close draft/damper and hold a warm fire for a long time.

Gearing up for elk season I thought I was going to bring a buddies wood stove with me but he was unable to deliver which left me scrambling. Ive looked into the Four Dog stoves before but thought I could wait one more year before I bought one. I ordered the stove with only five business days before I left on my hunt. I was nervous about getting it on time. I placed a call to Four Dog and Don assured me he would have it to me on time. Sure enough it arrived on the day he said it would and looked as good as I hoped. I unpacked it and burnt a fire in it to burn the paint off and it was ready for my trip. Once I arrived in camp I saw that my stove was by far the nicest. It burnt hot and burnt the longest. I could see a bit of stove envy in the eyes of my fellow hunters. Im glad I purchased a solid well made product made in America from fellow outdoorsman. I look forward to using it for many years to come.
