  1. My Quest has ended 5 Star Review

Posted by on 31st Mar 2021

I purchase the LT III about 6 months ago. I dry bake on the trail for not just myself but there is usually 4 to 6 of us. I have been on a quest for 3 years to find a twig stove that will actually do the job. This baby is the answer. I can dry bake a 6 serving muffin mix in one pan in 25-30 mins usually without having to add any additional wood. I can boil 5 cups of water in 17 minutes, and maintain the boil for 9 additional minutes, again usually without adding any additional wood. It's such a pleasure to cook on. BUt it is all about how you build your fire. Get it play with, experiment with. Here is my go too fire method. I use 3/4 twigs, stood up vertically. The wood should be just short of the gasification hole sat the top. I pack it with as mean twigs as it will hold, then remove one twig from the center. I place my fire starter in this space, but close to the top. Place tinder on top of fire starter and light. Add more tender for the first minute or so. I let it burn about 2 minutes then place my pot and windscreen on the stove (you definitely want a windscreen). This creates a top down burn that will keep my DIY oven between 300-400 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. I like it enough that I just ordered the LTII as well. The topper is, I can make enough biscuits and gravy in one cook to feed two people, Awesome. Thanks Don, Great product. I'm looking forward to testing out the LTII here in the next couple of weeks
